Our Story

Willow Run Polo has been one of the staples of Virginia polo, serving both new and experienced players in The Plains, VA for over 30 years and is where many of the current Virginia players began their polo careers. The club's philosophy is simple: anyone can learn to play polo and it should be accessible to all, whether their goal is to learn the basics of the game, to play weekend chukkers, or to be competitive in games and tournaments.  The friendly, collegial, and supportive environment, paired with some of the best pros and ponies in the country, are just some of the reasons that Willow Run has gained its loyal following.

Sitting on what was part of the Arundel Family's Merry Oaks Farm property, the club's Virginia facilities include 60 acres of paddocks and fields, 3 barns with a combined 40 stalls, and a wide variety of horses for riders of all ability levels. In partnership with neighboring clubs, players have access to an exceptional grass field for weekly games, lessons, and stick & ball sessions. Group lessons are available on weekend days, and practice chukkers take place throughout the week and weekend, ensuring enough game play for everyone. In addition, Willow Run's close cooperation with other clubs in the area ensures that there are plenty of opportunities for players to experience the finest of Virginia grass and arena polo.

Willow Run has recently added a second location in Lake Worth, Florida, 12 minutes from world-class polo, including the USPA's National Polo Center, in Wellington. Willow Run South includes a new 16-stall barn, paddocks, an exercise track, and a stick and ball field, among other facilities.

Willow Run Polo Club in Virginia is situated 10 minutes from the heart of The Plains, 15 minutes from Middleburg, and 60 minutes from DC, making it easy to come in for a lesson or to spend the day in the country.
